This is the real deal.

Mike Monson and Chris Rhatigan consistently produce one of the best crime fiction magazines on the 'Net -- one that is such a keeper you will want to buy the paperback editions so you can lend them easily to friends -- really good friends.

This anthology, drawn from the pages of the mag, features some of my absolute favorite writers: Alec Cizak, Joe Clifford, Patti Nase Abbott, Chris Leek, Tom Pitts, Ryan Sayles and others, all working at the top of their form.

If you are looking for lurid tales full of grifters, gats and gun-molls, this is what you want to have in your hands and in your head. The paperback is currently out of print, but the Kindle edition is available for .99 cents -- cheaper than a pack of smuggled smokes from a Bodega in the East Brooklyn rat's nest known as "The Hole."

All Due Respect The Anthology Chris Rhatigan 9781502588890 Books Reviews

This is a compilation of short narratives from the criminals' viewpoint. Most stories have a twist at the end; a couple are real dogs. Overall, this is an excellent read. The stories are short and to the point, so you can enjoy them when you are at work/school as time permits. Well worth the money.
Very good collection of real gritty, fast paced, noir short stories.

If you like the genre do not disregard this book and, beyond it, the chance it gives us to discover untill yet undiscovered real talents.

Truly entertaining, very fast paced and intelligent and well written.
I have been totally blown away by this collection of short crime stories - raw, powerful, direct no apologies, no prisoners, these stories are as hard as reality, and sometimes more.

Absolutely loved, if you enjoy crime fiction that does not even know how to spell "sugary happy ending," this book is for you.
I've been reading any amount of shorts lately, yet "All Due Respect" found plenty of new ways to surprise and delight me. Plenty of themes and backdrops are familiar (in particular, I've had enough meth-fueled characters and situations to last me a good while). For me, though, the standout attribute of this collection is the way it alternated from grimness to a warped levity. No clinkers here, and though there are many standouts, the entries that come to mind right now are those from Garnett Elliott, Tom Pitts, Jim Wilsky, and McDroll. I'd say I was familiar with about half the authors here, and so it's good to have exposure to so many other new ones.
Okay, stop. Stop reading this. Just buy this sweet magazine. I've cover-to-covered this baby, and I am telling you to BUY. THIS. ANTHOLOGY. Reading this thing is like eating little popcorn-crime stories one after another. You'll chomp through these like there's no tomorrow. Seedy characters, switchblade plot twists, skunky dive bars, and enough dank dripping alleyways to trip any crime-lover's trigger. And if you're still reading this...why?
This is a wonderful collection of stories from the Dark Side. If you're looking for heros and happy endings, where everything's tied up neatly in the end and the good guy gets the girl, this is definitely not the book you're looking for. On the other hand, if you're after something a little grittier, where sometimes bad things happen to good people, and where sometimes awful things happen to both good & bad people... get this anthology. I rarely believe it when folks say, "I couldn't put it down..." but this collection will make you say it.
I honestly hope there's a second volume coming along; I'd pre-order it today.
99 cents?! Are you kidding me? All Due Respect is a fine noir anthology, replete with characters whose actions are as disgusting morally as they are physically. Try staying afloat while diving through all the protagonists' murky psyches, and see if you ain't having fun while wondering about yourself. The pulp underground is undergoing a resurgence, and authors such as these should not stay underground for long. In order of appearance, my ten favorite stories in this volume were those written by Joe Clifford, Tom Hoisington, Mike Toomey, Garnett Elliott, Alec Cizak, Chris Leek, Richard Godwin, Tyler Mathis, Matthew C. Funk, and McDroll. Not to disparage the other authors here - editor Chris Rhatigan clearly knows what he's doing, and there are other writers I like here, I just tried to narrow it down to a few favorites and couldn't stop short of ten. Many of these are writers I hadn't read before, but I'll certainly be seeking them out now. And if I'd liked only these ten (which is not the case) at 99 cents for the entire book that's a dime a story. I was turning a profit before I finished the opening story.

These are not cozy mysteries. Writing this crisp and hard comes from the canon of Hammett and Thompson, Goodis, Cain, and Stark. Those footsteps are not easy to follow, but that's okay - these writers are not trying to do anything easy. They are doing something dark.
